Ascender (Device)

Overview

The Ascender is a Device in Fortnite: Creative and Unreal Editor for Fortnite that was added in Update v31.30.

In UEFN, this device can be found in the Content Browser in the following path: /All/Fortnite/Devices/Traversal

There is currently no Verse API for this device.

Contextual Filtering

This device is affected by Contextual Filtering; This feature hides or displays options depending on the values selected for certain related options.

All default values have been Bolded.

All Options
Option Value Description
Ascender Style Ground, Wall, Cable Only Ascender Style to hold the Cable.
Max Cable Length 70.0m, 3.0m - 1000.0m Determines how far down the cable can extend. As long as the cable's path isn't blocked, it will extend until it reaches this length.
Enable During Phase None, Always, Pre-Game Only, Gameplay Only, Create Only Determines the game phases during which the device will be enabled. If set to Create Only, will only be enabled while editing your Island.

These options are only visible while using UEFN, these are in addition to the options above.

Fort Ascender Zipline
Spline Offset from Ground 185.0, Select a Value This is the vertical offset to apply to the ground location when automatically determining the spline end location. This is also where the handle will rest when not in use.
Cable Offset from Spline End -60.0, Select a Value This is the vertical offset to apply to the cable mesh from where the spline ends.
Spline Static Mesh SM_ZiplineCylinder, Select a Static Mesh This is the static mesh to apply to the spline mesh for the cable.
Handle Return Speed 1100.0, Select a Value This is the rate per second to use when returning the handle to the spline end location.
Cable Drop Speed 1250.0, Select a Value This is the rate per second to use when the ground breaks below the bottom of the ascender spline, and the end lowers to the new ground.
Yaw Rotation Offset While Using Handle 180.0, Select a Value This is the yaw rotation offset to apply to the player while they are using the handle. Player rotation will be: Ascender Yaw Rotation + YawRotationOffset.
Yaw Rotation Offset While Sliding Down 180.0, Select a Value This is the yaw rotation offset to apply to the player while they are sliding down the ascender. Player rotation will be: Ascender Yaw Rotation + YawRotationOffset.
Interaction
Show Interact Keybind True, False True if this actor shows keybind on interaction prompt.

Option Description
Enable When Receiving From While the device is enabled, players can use it to ascend or descend.
Disable When Receiving From While the device is disabled, players cannot use it to ascend or descend.

Option Description
On Ascend Begin Send Event To Fires when a player beings to ascend, sending them as the instigator.
On Ascend End Send Event To Fires when a player stops ascending, sending them as the instigator.
On Descend Begin Send Event To Fires when a player begins to descend, send them as the instigator.
On Descend End Send Event To Fires when a player stops descending, send them as the instigator.
