Overview
The Compass is a gameplay mechanic in Fortnite: Battle Royale. It highlights the direction in which the player is facing, as well as indicating an opponent has fired an un-suppressed weapon.

The Compass is part of the heads up display (HUD) for every player, unless it has been manually turned off. The compass has two main uses:
Direction[]
The Compass can be used for noting direction, both in cardinal terms (North, East, South and West), or in specific degrees out of 360. The compass makes note of the specific degree the player is facing.
Highlighting gunfire[]
If an opponent fires a weapon which is not labelled as Suppressed, they will appear as a red 'blip' on the compass. The closer an opponent fires their weapon in relation to the player, the larger the blip is. If a Suppressed weapon is fired, there will be no blip on the compass. Items such as Grenades will also show a blip on the compass.
Melee weapons do not trigger a blip.
