Overview
Vlad the Vicious the Second is a recurring antagonist in Save the World who is associated heavily with the Hexsylvania region. Vlad was a tyrannical figure in Hexsylvania's past who held political power over the peasants residing in the region. He was known for his cruelty and was accused of vampirism, though this claim is highly disputed.
Lore
Lore[]
It is not certain what time period Vlad lived in. He ruled over populations of peasants in Europe and owned numerous Gothic-style castles, suggesting placement in the Middle Ages, but his statue depictions often portray him wearing a top hat, which was not invented until the late 18th century.
According to a modern Hexsylvanian guidebook, there is only one surviving statue of Vlad in Hexsylvania; all of the statues seen are replicas created by the Storm.
He had twelve thrones, each corresponding to a day of the Vladian week. This week included nine Vladsdays in addition to Tuesday, Vlaterday, and Wendsvlad.
Vlad had a tendency to silence his critics. He is said to have burned much of Hexsylvania's historical record after reading an unflattering journal entry. He then tortured the writer along with his family and associates. On another occasion, he invited several villagers to a feast at Castle Moremist after hearing that he was accused of vampirism. No villagers returned.
Death[]
Vlad, at some point, began to fear for his life. He supposedly had a weakness to Vladamantium (a radioactive metal alloy) and therefore decreed that all Vladamantium must be crafted into non-knife objects.
Upon discovering a plot against him, Vlad set a tax on torches and pitchforks so as to quell any mob uprisings. The conspirators prepared stocks of mirrors, wooden stakes, and garlic.
Ultimately, Vlad ended up fleeing from a violent mob. He was burned to death; his bones were claimed by a villager and locked in a special coffin topped with a gargoyle.
Second Coming[]
In the post-Storm era, Vlad has returned in the form of a mist monster deployed by the Storm, inspired by Vlad's supposed vampirical qualities. This monster was defeated, but it is not certain whether Vlad is truly gone forever.
