The Chitauri were a playable team in the Endgame LTM, alongside Thanos. Thanos and his Chitauri army (Team 1) are invading the Fortnite Battle Royale island, searching for the six Infinity Stones. Players must acquire the Avengers (Team 2): Endgame items scattered throughout the map, and take the fight to him.

The Chitauri have three items in the limited time mode: the Chitauri Energy Launcher, the Chitauri Laser Rifle, and the Chitauri Jetpack.

  • The Energy Rifle is a fast-firing gun that has infinite ammo and that fires Energy Bullets that each do 75 Damage. The gun is incredibly accurate and is effective at almost all ranges.
  • The Energy Launcher is essentially a grenade launcher that fires explosive energy bullets instead. Each bullet does 100 damage and takes a bit of time before you can fire one. If you hold the trigger, the energy launcher will charge up and will deal more powerful explosive blasts. The energy launcher is effective at blowing up builds due to the explosive radius and high damage output.
  • The Chitauri Jetpack works the same way as the normal jetpack. The Chitauri jetpacks, however, have infinite usage but don't have as much potential air time, and take longer to recharge than the regular jetpack.
Purpose in Endgame

The Chitauri's purpose in the Endgame LTM is to collect every Infinity Stone and to wipe out the remaining Avengers. When the timer for the first storm circle reaches 3:00, the first stone (randomized) will fall from the sky. The first Chitauri soldier to collect said infinity stone will become Thanos and will obtain his abilities. If the player controlling Thanos dies, they will become Thanos again if another infinity stone is collected, regardless of which Chitauri soldier collected the stone. If the player controlling Thanos is respawning, anyone that collects the next stone will be granted Thanos' abilities instead.

Once all of the Infinity Stones are collected, respawning will be disabled for the Avengers, and it will be up to the Chitauri army to wipe out the remaining ones and "Restore Balance" to the universe.

Once 100 Chitauri soldiers are eliminated (including Thanos), respawning will be disabled for the Chitauri team. It will then be up to the Avengers to wipe out the remaining Chitauri to "Save the universe".
